Wool soakers or wool covers are a traditional cover to use for cloth nappies. They are tried and true with knitting patterns from the 1890s. The beauty of wool soakers is they can absorb up to 40% of their own weight, when lanolised they are water proof and breathable, you only need to wash them every other day and are very funky. They can be used during the day or at night. In our modern age, they are being used at night with a fitted cloth nappy or a prefold. Wool soakers are also very breathable and wont make you baby hotter. Wonderful for Winter or Summer.

At Apikali we use 100% Merino wool, as does Baby Beehinds and EcoPosh. We also provide wool soakers made from 100% Alpaca wool which are softer and gentler, less itchy than Merino wool for some babies. Please be aware that Aplaca wool is finer and more stretchy than Merino wool.
